MELANA
At the end of my studies in 2007 we made a group work called Wet Circle that was presented to the 'Born in Georgia' exhibition in the Cobra Museum of Modern Art in the Netherlands. This museum was the first museum in the Netherlands to present a major overview of contemporary art from Georgia.

From the beginning we had an idea for a performance: we would sit in a circle and spit, one after the other, in each other’s faces, until we all ran out of saliva. It was mysterious act for us. We liked the idea and at the same time we found it scary. Then we understood that this work spoke about our pain, aggression, love, trust, about our collaborative work and the nature of that collaboration, and about our need to take risks... So in the end it was vital to make this work and to free ourselves from society, friends, parents and critics. Again, this work came out of a process of deconstructing and reconstructing ideas.
This work was done with the help of the National Children’s Gallery of Georgia.
